If so, there is no better time than now to start a clean eating detox for you and the entire family! The truth is that chances are it’s not only you that feels weighed down from all the holiday goodies, but your kids (if you have them) may also be feeling the same way! Let’s talk about some ways that you can start naturally detoxifying your, and your entire family to get ready for the new year ahead.
Detox Food Support:
Often times after the holiday's many people are looking to start a detox. However, not all detoxes are created equal. Going on a water cleanse, or even a juice cleanse may do more harm than good, as too many built up toxins excreted into your bloodstream can make you down right sick! Instead, there are things you can do every day to ensure that you are giving both your body and your entire family’s body what it needs to naturally flush out toxins. It’s all about the foods you choose to add to your plate. Here are a handful of foods to add to your dinner recipes for the next couple of weeks. Start incorporating these into your, and your family’s meals to give your body a boost. You may be surprised at just how much better you feel!
Dark Leafy Greens: Nothing says natural detox like dark leafy green veggies. If you are worried about how you will get these into your kid's bellies, don’t worry I have a few tricks up my sleeve. I would recommend initially starting out with spinach. Make a berry spinach smoothie, with lots of blueberries to mask the green from the spinach. The spinach will be undetectable! You can also make turkey tacos with things like kale, and collard greens. With some natural spices, these dark leafy greens will be accepted among everyone at the dinner table.
Antioxidants: Antioxidants are important as they help your body get rid of free radicals. Try berries, sweet potatoes, pecans, and goji berries. These are all fairly easy to get into your entire family’s diet. Try making a bowl of oats for breakfast with some fresh berries, and some pecans. You have yourself and antioxidant rich breakfast to start your day on the right foot.
Avocados: Avocados are rich in fiber, and help the body rid itself of built up toxins; just what you need after all those holiday sweets! Try adding avocados to your family’s smoothies, or making a healthy guacamole with some red onions, and cilantro for an added detox boost!
Garlic: Garlic is super easy to get into your diet, and is very easy to cook with. If you and your family are feeling bloating from the holiday season, try tossing some freshly chopped garlic into your recipes for an added detoxifying, and flavor boost.
Grapefruit: An excellent way to start your day is by having a sliced grapefruit with breakfast. Grapefruits are rich in fiber, and help support your body’s natural detoxification system. Try adding grapefruit to yours and your family’s diet to flush out those unwanted toxins.
